John Valentine Berry was born about 1837 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky.

John Valentine Berry was married to Margaret Ann Miller (daughter of James Miller and Sarah Zink ) on 24 Apr 1856 in Jefferson County, KY by James Augustus. Witnesses were : James Graham and Daniel Miller. On marriage bond for John Valentine and Margaret, his given name is listed as Jonathon - John's father's given name is also listed as Jonathon. Margaret Ann Miller was born on 28 Feb. 1839 in Ky. She died 29 May 1872 in Jefferson Co., KY. and is buried in the old Penile Cemetery in Jefferson Co., Ky. After the death of John Valentine Berry his widow Margaret Ann Berry married second Burgess Ray on 4 Sep 1869. They were married by Sam Matlock in Louisville, KY. Witnesses were John Harrison and George W. Neuman.
