FIRST MILLER GENERATION

Wendel Miller was born about 1729 in Manheim, Germany. He died in 1805 in Salisbury, NC. Wendel Miller came to America in 1754 on the "Brothers" ship from Rotterdam, he arrived in Penn. at the age of 25. The family name was Muller in Germany but was changed to Miller in America. We have been told his first wife was a Cherokee Indian. He moved to Rowan Co. NC. and had 8 children by his first wife. Both Wendel Miller and his first child, Frederick fought in the Revolutionary War. The Daughters of the American Revolution dedicated a goverment monument in his Honor in the Organ Lutheran Church cemetery in Rowan Co. NC.

The 1790 Rowan County Census list the following information on Wendel Miller: Free White females - 2, All other free persons - 4, Slaves - 4.
